The Youthful Horizons Therapy building itself is very unique, featuring green sustainable construction which includes a geothermal HVAC system to heat and cool the building and provide heat for domestic hot water, radiant floors, radiant sidewalks, and the therapy pool. Energy from the exhausted air of the building ventilation system is recovered to provide excellent indoor air quality while reducing energy costs. Lights and temperature are controlled by sound and motion sensors throughout the building to reduce energy usage. A web-based building automation system controls most aspects of the heating and cooling systems while tracking energy savings indefinitely for the building. The entire building is designed to use only electric energy to facilitate the future retrofit of solar/wind technologies and allow the building to be energy independent. This state-of-the-art facility consumes 60-75% less energy than a conventional building.
